This is by far the most illustrative and complete work on traditional beading techniques that I have ever seen. A great addition to any beader's library whether just beginning or highly skilled.

The book is layed out in a clearly organized and easy to follow manner. Directions are given for doing the overlay-stitch, lane stitching (lazy stitch), crow-stitch, edge beading, and the gourd stitch. They are given in a step by step format starting with the basics and graduating into the more complex theories of design. Tips for trouble shooting are also addressed, when necessary.

Also discussed are tribal preferances as to materials. This includes a history of beads as well as of the individual techniques, covering such topics as color, design, application, and much more. There are also many excellent photos of traditional beadwork pieces that illustrate various beading styles. Anyone interested in Native American beading techniques should have this book!
